Pacman 2 - The New Adventures
Another adventure of funny Mr. Pac. The concept of the game is shifted in the way of quest. Definitely a unique approach. The control is rather complex but easy to get used to. Nice graphics and great humor.
This time, Pac-Man has a series of quests to complete, and instead of guiding him directly you ask him to move left or right. Depending on his mood he may or may not listen, and you can use a slingshot to get his attention.
The entire cast of characters of Pac Man games star in this version. It seems that Inky, Binky, Pinky, and Clyde (or “the ghosts”) have teamed up with new ally who could prove to be trouble for Pac-Land. Can Pac-Man and his family resist the newcomer? We'll see!

Bugs Bunny Double Trouble
So, after a hard day Bugs decided to take a nap and had a dream, but not about carrots. This dream has Bugs' double trouble- his arch enemies Hunter Isamity Sam and Marvin Martian, intending to finish the poor rabbit in the land of dreams. But Bugs is a tough guy with three alive and the inborn ability for lucky escape.
The game consists of two sub levels: one is easier, the other is harder, you may choose their succession. The graphics and music are OK but the game action is sort of chaotic, what could be expected).

Mickey Mouse - Castle of illusions
Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusion – While Mickey and Minnie Mouse are enjoying a rare day off, Minnie is suddenly kidnapped by the evil Witch Mizrabel and taken to her Castle of Illusion. Now it's up to you, as Mickey, to locate the Castle, defeat the Witch, and return Minnie to safety. You must find seven gems that are hidden somewhere inside the huge chambers and underground mazes of the Castle in order to free Minnie. You'll be up against hungry Bonefish, deadly ghosts, vicious bats, noble knights, and fire-breathing dragons on your quest to save your girl. You'll have to run, jump, swing, and slide your way through level after level of perilous situations as you hunt down the seven gems and prepare for the final showdown with Mizrabel herself.
Gunstar Heroes
The mad Colonel Red has discovered four crystals that imprison a deadly being known as GoldenSilver, and plans on unleashing it onto the population of the planet! He must be stopped! Enter… the Gunstar Heroes, Red and Blue!
The distant planet of Gunstar 9 has enjoyed a peaceful and prosperous history, so the last thing the inhabitants expected was an alien attack. And now it has happened. With the military rendered useless by the attackers, the planet is in need of some Gunstar Heroes to save the planets and prevent the total annihilation of Gunstar 9. This is where you come in, as one of two brothers, you must destroy the evil that has infiltrated your planet before it's too late. You've got a 360-degree firing radius, and you're going to need it to handle the hordes of enemies that will bombard you with all kinds of weapons and traps.
Unleash some mad blasting action onto the Colonel's army and don't let him bring GoldenSilver to life!! The fate of Gunstar-9 is in your hands!
At the start you have the choice to pick a weapon type, either Fire, Chaser, Lightning, or Standard. Each one supplies a different attack and as you progress through the levels, you'll find more. If you combine them, you'll get a new attack or getting another one of the same enhances you attack. Like Double-Fire makes an enormous flame-thrower. Fire and Chaser makes you fire attacks follow enemies. It's really fun, and there are about 14 different combinations.
First, let mesay this, Gunstar Heroes is hard, VERY hard. Mainly the bosses provide such a steep challenge you'll play over and over again (and a lack of a save system hurts, despite the fact that there are 7 levels). The only thing that bugs me about GH is the level design. It's basicaly you running through a straight direction. But the levels are creative, ranging from a level that plays like a board-game to a space shooter. It's very compelling.
Gunstar Heroes features:
Gunstar 9 is under attack
It's up to you to save your home planet
360-degree firing radius
Side-scrolling action
One or two players
Golden Axe 1, 2 and3
Golden Axe
You family is dead and your entire village is in ruins. There's only one creature evil enough to slaughter and destroy an entire town of innocent civilians, the Death Adder. In Golden Axe, its up to you to exact revenge rid the world of one of the most vile and heinous beings to ever walk the planet. As either Gilius Thunderhead or Tyris Flare, you'll journey through a world full of dragons, undead skeletons, and brutal barbarians as you seek out Death Adder. Utilize your impressive axe skills or your mastery of magic to destroy any foe that dares to challenge you, and enlist the help of several animal friends that will make you an unstoppable force. Whether youre alone or with a friend, Death Adder must pay the consequences.
There are two modes of play in Golden Axe: Arcade mode and Battle mode. Arcade mode pits you against the minions of the evil Dark Adder in numerous levels. This mode is identical to the arcade game, you go through numerous levels vanquishing enemies of various types. You can use magic to aid you, or you can just beat the crap out of everyone ala-Streets of Rage or Final Fight. This mode is a blast to play and is simple, mindless fun. Battle mode is a rather unique (for it's time) one-on-one fighting mode pitting you against one of Dark Adder's many minions.
The character designs were pretty cool for their time (hey, who can't love a game with an elf in it?), and they were all packed with details, and rather large in stature. Even the enemies in the game have tons of details, you'll be able to distinguish snouts on some of the enemies, as well as mouths. The in-game environments were beautiful, all of them featured a unique look and feel that set them apart from the rest, and they were all full of tiny details that added to the level.
The music fits the game's mythological theme perfectly, all of the songs have a heroic sound to them. The sound effects are, for the most part excellent.
Golden Axe features:
Based on the arcade hit
Two playable characters
Use weapons and magic to defeat your enemies
Recruit animal friends to help your cause
One or two players
Golden Axe II
Golden Axe II is a side-scrolling action game that pits your warrior (a male, female, or dwarf) against several creatures set in a world of fantasy. Skeletons, club-wielding grunts, lizard-men, and magicians will all fall to your sword or axe as you progress through each level in your quest to defeat Dark Guld. The characters' moves are basic, consisting of slashes, charges and jump attacks, but a special move such as a double-sided sword or back-flip attack is available as well. As in the original, you can steal the dragon mounts of some of the enemies and use their attacks against them. One creature will tail-whip, one will kick with its hind legs, and another will breathe fire.
Each character also has an affinity towards magic, the strength of which depends on the number of magic books you pick up along the way. The dwarf draws upon the magic of the earth and can send boulders raining down from the sky, the Amazon has fire based magic and may summon a huge dragon or phoenix to scorch her enemies, and the barbarian can use the power of the wind to swirl away his opponents. Magic is best saved until the end of each level to wear down the powerful bosses and henchmen.
Several features could have been added to help set this title apart from Golden Axe. New twists like riding a dragon through the skies, playing as a monster, gaining levels, mastering finishing moves, or even using different weapons. One thing that has changed are the original game's elves and potions – now they're cloaked magicians and books, respectively. It gives the game a whole new feel… All kidding aside, those looking for a significant departure from Golden Axe should pass on this sequel. It is the same hack-and-slash action with a slight change of scenery.
The graphics have been upgraded and although they are very similar, they are given a lot more detail. The sprites are more detailed and the three characters are given some new features. Gilius has a whiter beard, which shows signs of age while Ax and Tyrus both have headbands, which make them look more like barbarians. Enemies are impressive because of the sheer size of some of them. The Minotaur, for example, has this evil grin on his face. The backgrounds are brilliant, looking much cooler this time around. The castle levels have skeletons lying on the ground, which is great. It looks like the remains of a battle or something. The backgrounds are a massive improvement because they have loads of detail, unlike in the first game.
The music is another improvement and is lot more dramatic. It still has a medieval/fantasy theme that obviously fits in with the game. Golden Axe II's score isn't as creative as its predecessor but can more than hold its own. The overall sound quality is superior, however, mainly because the music is very powerful and sounds so much clearer. Even when you first start the game up you hear this pounding drum beat followed by a dramatic tune that really gets you in the mood of the game.
Golden Axe II game features:
The 3 characters from the original return
More enemies and different beasts to ride
Use a mix of might and magic to defeat the enemies in your path
Action for one or two players
Golden Axe III
There's been a few changes since Golden Axe II, as you'd be able to tell after starting the game. Gilius Thunderhead (the dwarf with the huge axe from parts 1 and 2) is no longer a playable character. Instead, he appears at the beginning of the game to send your character on their quest… and speaking of your character, you can now choose from four: two characters who appear to be Ax Battler (the barbarian) and Tyris Flare (the Amazon) from Golden Axe and Golden Axe II, and two all new characters. One is a werepanther; the other is a huge musclebound character that may be a dungeon escapee, considering that he still has chains hanging from his arms and legs. Each character has different magic that they can use; however, unlike the first two games, the level of damage magic will cause enemy characters is the same for all four characters. That's not all that's been added. New to the Golden Axe series is the addition of multiple branching paths. Each path will take you to a different area, and may be instrumental in getting the good ending to the game. You see, during the course of the game you encounter the three characters that you did not pick. They've been possessed, and you have to literally beat the spirits out of them to free them. You only encounter all three of them if you pick the right set of paths to go down, though. On a whole, Golden Axe III controls just as good, if not better, than the first two games – with the exception of Bizarrian control. The Bizarrians are strange domesticated creatures that you can wrest from the enemies and use to defeat them. For instance, the original game had dragons and a strange creature called a “chicken-leg” to control. The sequel had more dragons and large kicking lizards. This one has… snails. Yes, snails. Giant snails with legs. There's also a dragon that breathes fire and a dragon that will grab enemies with its mouth and throw them, but the snails are the weirdest. They attack with their tongue… one has a short tongue, and the other has a long tongue.
This “Prince of Darkness” has taken away the Golden Axe and put an evil curse over all the warriors. However, one of the heroes has their curse relieved and is sent to set things straight – lift curse off others, defeat the villian and return with the Golden Axe.
You get four characters to choose from: Amazon, barbarian, panther man, and a big gladiator-type brute. All play more or less the same, with the difference being the amount of damage dished out. The gladiator is slow but deals the most powerful blows, panther man is quickest but is also the weakest of the bunch, etc. Your energy is now displayed by a long health bar, as opposed to the individual bars from the previous games
Golden Axe 3 features:
Several levels but with different paths to take through them now
2 new characters from previous installments, but Gilius Thunderhead is no longer playable
More interactive environments with destructible objects
Action for one or two players
Flinstones
Flintstones is a platform game based on the famous Flintstones series. The game features many original Flintstones characters, such as Fred, Wilma, Barney, and others. The large levels are divided into smaller stages. In the end of each level there is a boss battle. The gameplay involves mostly jumping and hitting the enemies on the heads with a club. The health is measured by hearts. During the game Fred will find many useful items, including some that will increase his health level.
Fred is easy to control, and his ability to club enemies and climb ledges goes a long way towards making the gameplay feel different from other titles in the genre.
You’ll make your way through 45 levels of wacky Flintstones high jinks battling dinosaurs and driving the Flintmobile in an effort to be the hero. If you think you’re up to the challenge, play the flintstones, save Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm, and get a taste of prehistoric life while you’re at it!
Flintstones features:
Classic Flintstones action
45 levels
Drive the Flintmobile
Enjoy cartoon-inspired animation
Appropriate for all ages
Earthworm Jim 1 and 2
Earthworm Jim
Jim used to be a garden-variety earthworm, but after discovering a high-tech space cybersuit, he became a super mean fighting machine known as Earthworm Jim. In this wacky platformer, you play as Jim as he tries to rid the world of evil, including a diabolical character known as Psy-Crow, who wants Jim's suit for his own needs. You'll lead Jim through 12 nutty levels, including New Junk City, What the Heck?, Down the Tubes, Snot a Problem, Level 5, For Pete's Sake, Buttville, and Andy Asteroids, as you run, jump, and fight your way to victory. Along the way, you'll find all kinds of power-ups that make you stronger and let you pull off moves you wouldn't otherwise be able to do. If the addictive gameplay and awesome graphics don't pull you in, then the fact that you play as an earthworm superhero definitely will!
Earthworm Jim game was for 1 player only. You were Jim and you had to journey through 8 stages of craziness, and fun. You were equipped with your head whip and trusty plasma blaster. You also found one other weapon a mega plasma blaster that shot a powerful shot that destroyed everything on the screen. You also had moves that helped you get to places you needed to go like head helicopter and the head whip to the hooks. You had to fight bosses on each and every level unlike the sequel where you only had a boss on two stages. You also have a very fun side game that you can play. It is where you ride your pocket rocket and try to beat Psycrow in a race among the asteroid belt. If you lose however you and Psycrow have a little scuffle on the nearest moon or planet. There are some stages that are different than the others, and some parts of the game where you control Jim without the suit. The stage is where you have to fight Sergeant Sludge through and there is a big mouth on the bottom of a snot pit ready to eat you. You are budgie jumping from your head and so is Sludge you have to keep shoulder ramming him. This stage offers a lot of variety and it is also fun. The difficulty through out the game is adjustable and their isn't save or password feature.
Earthworm Jim is pretty hard to beat in one sit through their should have been one.
Earthworm Jim features:
Features 12 cool levels of platforming action
Power-ups to help your cause
Tons of wacky enemies to fight
Stellar graphics
The characters are of a good stature, they all have an original look and have excellent animation. The animation must be seen to be believed, it's some of the smoothest ever seen in a video game in my opinion. Small graphical touches like snot coming off of your opponent in the bunjie jump levels or Jim's humorous waiting animations round out the beautiful graphics.
Earthworm Jim is one of the better games for the Sega Genesis, with it's very diverse and a little strange levels and creative characters it is sure to be a game that will have you hooked for a while. You will be doing everything from racing a crow in a space suit to bungee jumping with a chunk of snot.
The clear voice effects and music score make this game friendly to the ears. Earthworm Jim is a stand-up comedian and sometimes, he just likes to sing. The booming and sometimes hilarious sound effects are really cool too.
Earthworm Jim 2
Your favorite annelid has returned in Earthworm Jim 2, the sequel to one of the funniest side-scrollers ever.
Earthworm Jim 2 features everything that made the original a classic, including fluid animation (thanks to Shiny's proprietary Animotion system), tricked-out gameplay that keeps the player guessing, and more humor than should be legal. The fiendish Psy-Crow has kidnapped Jim's girlfriend, Princess What's-Her-Name, and Jim's out to get her back again.
You play the role of Earthworm Jim as you traverse through more crazy worlds filled with some of the weirdest and wildest enemies you’ve ever seen. Princess What's-Her-Name has been kidnapped by Psy-Crow, and it's up to you to save her before your arch nemesis does who-knows-what to What's-Her-Name!
There are 12 brand spankin' new levels to push your platforming skills to the limit, and several characters make return engagements in the second installment of this popular series including Peter Puppy and Bob the Goldfish. While using a Snott swing may sound ridiculously childish, Earthworm Jim 2 isn't just for the kids; gamers of all skill levels will find that the game is fun, unique, and most of all challenging wth hilarious characters, level designs, and music that will keep you coming back for more.
With flying pigs, falling grannies, and levels with such profound names as “Anything but Tangerines” and “Jim is Now a Blind Cave Salamander,” you know you're in for some worm-whipping, side-scrolling action from the masters of the genre!
Earthworm Jim 2 features:
Classic action-packed, addictive platform gameplay;
Weapons – Over 5 weapons to choose from to battle all of Jim's enemies;
Wacky levels – Untraditional level designs, only known to Earthworm Jim;
Returning Characters – All the original characters that made Jim an instant classic. (Princess What's-Her-Name, Psy-Crow, Peter Puppy, Bob the Goldfish, Evil the Cat);
Whip, run, jump, fly and snot swing your way to victory and for the love of Princess What's-Her-Name.
Bubsy
Bubsy is a smart-aleck bobcat (sans pants, of course) who seems to spend most of his time running around and dealing with the various platform pratfalls and arcade antics that compose his strange little life.
The Woolies have invaded Earth to steal the world's supply of yarnballs, and it's up to Busby the Bobcat to stop them. In this side-scrolling platformer, you play as Busy running, jumping, and stomping your way through five crazy worlds.
There are 16 levels with an average of 300 screens per stage, which means this game will keep you busy for hours on end. Thankfully, a password system saves your progress so you won't have to start over every time you play.
Bubsy runs, jumps, glides, splats, lops and he jumps all over those yarn-stealing Woolies. Check him out, through 5 worlds on 16 big levels.
There are five different locations such as jungle, wild west, etc., where you have to jump and land on your enemies to kill them. Each time to finish the level you have to defeat the boss, who sits in alien ship.
Bubsy also employs great graphics, entertaining sound effects, and seven music tracks to keep your adrenaline pumping as you hunt down the Woolies and retrieve the yarnballs.
Bubsy is one cool cat…
Bubsy features:
Features five zany worlds to tackle
16 levels, made up of 300 screens each
Seven music tracks
Cartoon-style sound effects
Feels like you're playing a cartoon
Beyond Oasis
As Prince Ali, you are out to stop an evil sorcerer and save the island of Oasis. To do so, you will need your wits, skils and the powers of the four Wild Spirits.
Beyond Oasis is an fast action RPG with special combat moves, unique weapons and spell attacks, cool animations, and lots of puzzles, hidden areas and hidden moves.
There is a ton of different weapons to aquire in the game, including magic bows, bombs, and all different types of swords. In the beginning, you search out the 4 powers of your magical armlet which you can use to summon your spirits, which include a fire spirit, a water spirit, a plant spirit, and a shadow spirit. Each has it's own unique abilities which will help you to fulfill your quest.
Beyond Oasis has a huge assortment of monsters, which in turn are either massive (like the Red Dragon boss) or interesting (like the zombies that split in to, and their torso continues to crawl and attack you). Ali can launch a big combo with kicks and his dagger, but he does some other tricks quite as well, most notably his backflip slash, which silences a lot of bad guys. The fighting is really gratifying, as each blow that you land gives an awesome sound effect and stuns your enemy. You'll soon be looking for more enemies and the most effective and/or fun way to kill them.
There's an inventory in this game, but you won't be buying all your stuff to fill it. You'll find items like food, weapons and stat enhancers scattered through the entire island and from your enemies. One item is more effective than another and soon you'll be thinking which item you should drop in favor of the new found items, as the inventory is quite limited. And you'll have to consider which gauge you want to keep up.
There are tons of secrets in Beyond Oasis, and a few side quests you can venture off and do to aquire more powerful weapons. In many of the dungeons you have to do some figuring. Sometimes there may be switches you must push in order to figure out the secret. Other times, you must strategically use your spirits to help you get out of the dungeon.
The Wild Spirits are elementals you can call to help you destroy the enemies or solve puzzles. The Wild Spirits are a fire spirit, a water spirit, a plant spirit, and a shadow spirit.
Beyond Oasis (US title; released as The Story of Thor in Europe and Japan) is an action-adventure video game released in 1994 for the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis console. The player takes the role of Prince Ali, who has discovered a buried gold “armlet” which once belonged to a wizard who waged a long war against the evil wielder of a silver armlet. The silver armlet was used to create chaos and destruction, while the gold armlet had the power to summon four spirits: the water spirit, “Dytto”; the fire spirit, “Efreet”; the shadow spirit, “Shade”; and the plant spirit, “Bow”. Ali travels the land of Oasis, gradually acquiring the ability to summon all these spirits, in an attempt to stop the person who has discovered the ancient silver armlet and is once again using it for evil.
Music for the game was composed by Yuzo Koshiro.
Beyond Oasis Special Features:
You're Prince Ali
Save Oasis from the evil sorcerer
Use weapons and Hidden Super Moves to devastate your foes
Solve puzzles
Take on the bosses at the end of each level
Save up to four games with the battery backup feature
Addams Family
A Game Boy Color game was released in the 1990s for promotion of “The New Addams Family.” The game was simply titled, “The New Addams Family Series.”
A pinball game by Midway (under the Bally label) was released in 1992 shortly after the movie. It broke previous sales records by selling over 20,000 units.
[review added by reggie]
The Addams Family is a platform game based on the characters and settings from the movie (which, in turn, is based on the famous 1960's television series).
The game takes place towards the end of the movie: the Addams Family has been evicted from their home by a court order issued by a backstabbing attorney (there's one for the books), Tully Alford. Even worse, the other Addamses: Morticia, Pugsley, Wednesday, Granny and Lurch have gone missing.
As Gomez, you must tour the Addams mansion in search of your lost family, battling out mysterious monsters and evading traps, and eventually face your nemesis, Tully.
An evil lawyer has thrown the Addams family out of their home and is planning to take their fortune. However, the family (except for the depressed Gomez) returns to the home to reason with the lawyer. When Gomez snaps out of his funk and finally arrives, his family is missing. You take control of the Addams' patriarch as he searches the house for his family and tries to save their fortune. He will have to run and jump through levels filled with enemies that will do whatever it takes to see that Gomez doesn't find his family. But thanks to his trusty bow and some arrows, disposing of any interference is a breeze. There are also several power-ups available that will help Gomez, including extra health and free lives. It's up to you to help Gomez save his family and their home in The Addams Family.
Alladin
There are many enemies and they can be taken down with one of two weapons. You can use a sword or apples to thwart your foes. The sword is the more powerful of the two but it has a limited range of attack, while the apples have less power but more range than the sword. Be careful though, your apple supply is limited, so you'll need to use them wisely. This adds an element of strategy to the game. You have to decide whether or not to use the more powerful weapon and risk injury, or use a lesser weapon and take longer to eliminate your foes. There aren't all that many bosses to fight, which is a bit odd for this type of game, but it fits the movie better. There is only one true antagonist in the movie, Jafar, and he's the only real boss in the game.
The graphics in Aladdin are absolutely breathtaking. The characters look nearly identical to those in the movie, replete with all of the little touches that define their personalities. Aladdin has patches on his pants, just like he did in the movie, to signify his poor status in the world and it adds an extra element to the character. The levels, as I mentioned earlier, are chock-full of details that bring a lot to the game. Even the enemies are full of details and humor. If you hit one of the larger guards with an apple, his pants will fall down, revealing white boxers with red hearts on them. This is one of the funniest things in the game, and it goes a ways towards retaining the atmosphere of the film.
The music is lifted right out of the movie, sans lyrics. All of it have a crisp and upbeat sound and fit the game's theme perfectly. The quality of the music leaves a little bit to be desired, since the lyrics added a lot to the songs in the movie. The lack of lyrics doesn't hurt the overall package all that much and it still adds a lot to the look and feel of the game.
Aladdin game features these levels:
Agrabah Market
The Desert
Agrabah Rooftops
Sultan's Dungeon
Cave of Wonders
The Escape
Rug Ride
Inside the Lamp
Sultan's Palace
Jafar's Quarters
Jafar's Palace
